10 Most Affordable Midsize SUVs for 2019

For a lot of drivers, a midsize SUV can be just the right size for their needs. If a compact SUV is a little too small, and a full-size SUV is a little too big, something right in between those two extremes can be perfect for family transportation or just anyone who wants the versatility of an SUV. Many midsize crossovers and SUVs have three rows of seats, making them even more family-friendly.

An SUV with seven seats can be more affordable than you might think. Here are the ten most affordable midsize SUVs for 2019. The prices listed below include destination charges.

Dodge Durango

Dodge Durango — $31,940

The Dodge Durango is one of the more muscular entries in this segment, with its bold, muscle-car-like styling and a choice of multiple V8 engines. If you don’t have the budget or desire for V8 power, its base V6 delivers a satisfying blend of performance and fuel economy. The Durango has been described as a Charger with seven seats, and we think that’s a pretty accurate description. Find a Dodge Durango for sale

Volkswagen Atlas

Volkswagen Atlas — $31,890

The Volkswagen Atlas is a fairly new entry in the three-row SUV game, and it’s part of VW‘s latest attempt at expanding its presence in the U.S. There’s a lot to like about the Atlas, like its spacious interior for both passengers and cargo and its intuitive infotainment system. If you want a three-row SUV with a third row you can actually use, the Atlas is one of the roomier SUVs in this segment. Find a Volkswagen Atlas for sale

Ford Flex

Ford Flex — $31,670

We love the Ford Flex for its off-beat styling, making it arguably more of a wagon than an SUV. Whatever you want to call it, the funky Flex still stands out from the crowd, and it delivers a healthy measure of practicality thanks to its boxy shape and three-row seating. It also brings with it the excellent available SYNC 3 infotainment system, which is one of our favorites in the industry. Find a Ford Flex for sale

Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet Traverse — $31,125

The Chevy Traverse is another good option if you’re looking for a midsize SUV with a third row of seats that is actually fairly roomy in the third row. We’d go so far as to say that the Traverse is minivan-like in its roominess and family-friendliness, and it has plenty of cargo space to boot. It also delivers a nice, smooth ride, making it an excellent road trip vehicle. Find a Chevrolet Traverse for sale

Ford Edge

Ford Edge — $31,090

The Ford Edge is a midsize, two-row SUV that might surprise you by how fun it is to drive. The Edge lacks a third row, but that just means that the second row and the cargo area have more space, which is great if you never need a third row of seats. The Edge was refreshed for 2019 with revised styling inside and out, plus a new 8-speed automatic transmission. Find a Ford Edge for sale

GMC Acadia

GMC Acadia — $30,195

The GMC Acadia is mechanically similar to the Chevy Traverse, but it’s a bit smaller, which means less room in the third row. A few virtues of the Acadia include a refined look inside and out (especially for this price point), user-friendly technology and pretty impressive fuel economy for a three-row SUV. If you have some more room in your budget, the higher trims of the Acadia offer an attractive luxury SUV bargain. Find a GMC Acadia for sale

Chevrolet Blazer

Chevrolet Blazer — $29,995

The Chevy Blazer is back for 2019 as a two-row, midsize crossover with an edgy look. The Camaro-inspired styling is apparent both inside and out for the all-new Blazer. It delivers roomy second-row seating and agile handling, and while the base 4-cylinder engine is quite good on gas, we recommend upgrading to the more muscular V6 if your budget allows. Find a Chevrolet Blazer for sale

Kia Sorento

Kia Sorento — $27,335

The Kia Sorento is arguably the best value in midsize, three-row SUVs. It has an upscale cabin with the excellent UVO infotainment system, it offers a smooth ride, and it received some nice updates for 2019 — including revised styling, new driver assistance features and a newly-standard third row of seats. Frankly, the third row is a little cramped, but if you’re not planning on having adults back there often, the Sorento is a three-row SUV bargain. Find a Kia Sorento for sale

Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai Santa Fe — $26,545

What used to be the Santa Fe Sport is now just the Hyundai Santa Fe, which was fully redesigned for 2019. This two-row SUV earns high marks for its quiet and comfortable upscale interior, generous standard safety tech and efficient base engine. If you’re looking for a crossover that’s modern, stylish and affordable, the new Santa Fe has a lot to offer in midsize SUVs. Find a Hyundai Santa Fe for sale

Dodge Journey

Dodge Journey — $24,740

The Dodge Journey is the most affordable midsize SUV by a pretty big margin. It even comes with three rows of seats. However, if we’re being honest, the Journey is getting pretty long in the tooth since it hasn’t seen any major revisions since it was first introduced back in 2009. That said, it has a very affordable base price that can’t be ignored if you’re looking for a new, three-row SUV on a budget. Find a Dodge Journey for sale
