The Acura TSX Sportwagon Is an Increasingly Cheap Rare Practical Car

If you’re looking for a special vehicle to use as a family car, you may want to consider the Acura TSX Sport Wagon. You may not have heard of the TSX Sport Wagon, but it’s a cool car: It’s essentially a station wagon version of the Acura TSX, which was offered from 2009 to 2014. It’s rare, it’s fun, it’s practical and it’s getting cheap.

First, let’s talk rarity. While the TSX was offered from 2009 to 2014, the Sport Wagon didn’t show up until 2011. A quick check on Autotrader reveals about 680 TSX models from this period listed for sale, with about 68 wagons — suggesting the TSX from this era was 90% sedans. You don’t see the wagons often, and that’s a good thing, if you’re looking for a family car with some rarity factor.

Then there’s the practical aspect. That one is simple: It’s a wagon. The wagon has 61 cu ft. of cargo space with all the seats folded, which puts it in between a Honda HR-V and CR-V. Not a huge figure, but enough to get by.

And then there’s the affordable factor: These are coming down in price pretty quickly. The 70 TSX Sport Wagon models listed on Autotrader are all priced between $8,000 and $16,000, with most collecting in the middle of that range. That means $10,000 to $12,000 will buy you a nice one — a rare, practical luxury wagon you can use as family transport.

Sadly, all TSX Sport Wagon models used the car’s base engine — a 201-hp 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, instead of a powerful 3.5-liter V6 you could get in the sedan. But it’s still a desirable car, and it would make a nice family car for a wagon lover in search of a bargain. Find an Acura TSX Sport Wagon for sale

  1. Jake – Just curious, how much room is in the back seat?  I’ve been looking at these but can’t find them.  I have 3 teenage boys and thought about something like this for them.

  2. Quick story on the Acura TSX Wagon I owned – I bought it new in 2011 after trading in my TSX sedan. I loved it! Only kept it a couple years but it was a nice wagon.

The interesting part – when trading it in they did so poorly at Acura dealers (St. Louis area) they didn’t want it back. I’m not kidding, those were their exact words! I ended up trading it in for an Infiniti and at the time I did it was the only TSX wagon for sale within 500 miles (new or used) of me and still didn’t sell fast.
Great car, but it was a hard sell. Saw my old wagon (side note-it’s always fun to see your old car!) at a mall a couple months ago, still a good looking wagon. Second favorite I’ve owned after the underrated Protege5.
      • I have had my 2012 TSX wagon for about 2 months now and I can tell you I have no problem zipping around. 1st and 2nd gear are tuned at a ratio that give you the acceleration you need to get going. 3rd gear doesn’t pull as hard but once you hit 4th gear you are moving and cruising. I also own a 2002 RSX Type-S so I am familiar with what is peppy. Overall I am very satisfied with its power. However, I have not tested it with a car load of people in it. Packed full of beer and groceries, yes, but people? No.
